| ABG Motorsport was founded by Peter Hignett at the Ashmoor Bridge Garage in Runcorn, and has achieved 10 championship titles and more than 90 race victories in series as diverse as Formula Ford 1600, Group N Saloons and British GT racing. Peter was joined by Tim Blake, now Team Principal, in 1997-98, as it launched Kurt Luby and Ricahrd Dean's British GT Championship winning campaign.
2001 sees ABG make its debut in the British Touring Car Championship. The ambitious programme sees the team develop the rear-wheel drive Lexus IS200.
Tim Blake comments, "Our aim is to win with this car for a long time to come and we are putting down the foundations for the Lexus to be the best car for the next three years." |
