Double BTCC champion Alain Menu has hinted that a return to the series could be on the cards in 2004. Speaking at Brands Hatch, where he was overseeing his ‘Menu Motorsport’ F3 team at the final event of the season, the Swiss driver said, “There is a small chance I could be back next year.”
Currently competing with Opel in the DTM, Menu last competed in the BTCC in 2000 when he took his 2nd title driving a Ford Mondeo. Menu has yet to take a win in the three seasons he has spent racing in the German series, with Opel trailing Mercedes Benz and Audi.
“I don’t know what I’m doing next year yet”, said Menu. “We haven’t started talking about it, but the BTCC or DTM is where I would like to be.”
Menu has not driven a BTCC car since Supertouring was dropped and the new rules were introduced at the start of 2001.
